Have you ever started on a weight loss journey all excited and then about 2-3 weeks in you start getting this heavy feeling inside? You are down on yourself because it isn't going as you thought it would or as it is for a friend?
We have all been there. The problem with most weight loss journey's or programs is that they don't focus on the mental aspect of it. They tell you eat less calories and burn more calories and bam lose weight except it isn't ever that easy and that is why so many people quit. They don't get the instant results they expect to get and go well why bother it isn't working.
I can sit here and give you tons of methods to lose weight, different options that could work for you but honestly if your mindset isn't ready than it really isn't going to work.
You need to show yourself kindness and respect yourself where you are right now. I believe that is the true start to a wellness journey. Your positivity is just as important as the salad you choose to eat for lunch. I know, some of you are reading this going, "yea, yea" just give me the meal plan but trust me on this one it is more than just a meal plan!
There also may be some of you agreeing with this but you don't know how to do it. So how do you show yourself kindness.
1. Talking positively to yourself. Would you walk up to your friend and go wow you look fat in that dress? (I'm seriously hoping the answer is no here lol). So if you wouldn't say it to your friend why would you say it to yourself? Look in the mirror every morning and say 3 nice things about you. Be specific.
2. Forgive yourself. We are all going to have moments where we cave and eat the donut or the 2 slices of pizza and hey that is life and it is meant to be enjoyed. Those actions should not be followed with "I'm a failure" instead forgive the choice and make a better one next time.
3. Get some sleep! I know this one will come as a surprise but you need to sleep like 7-8 hours so you can wake up and be your best self. The more run down you get the more likely you will make poor choices and that will not make you feel good. Treat yourself with kindness by going to bed! Silence the phone and go to sleep!
4. Meditation - Calming your mind is so powerful. You can think more clearly and rest. I highly recommend this practice in any form. You can use a guided meditation app or do it on your own or do your own version of calming your mind!
5. Write a letter to your future self - I love this practice. Write your future self a letter telling them why you are on this journey and what your goals for it are. Write down your emotions and your progress and explain how hard you are working.
Happy Saturday! I wanted to hop by and give you this important message for this weekend because I hear a lot of this going around!
Do not punish yourself with exercise. When you get into that mindset you will start resenting working out because you will associate it with something negative rather than all the positive it brings.
I totally get not wanting to lose your progress but it is not going to happen with one meal or in one day or really one weekend!
If you can relate to this I want you to do this...
Each morning when you get up be intentional about how you will show up that day. Will you do your workout? Will you focus on your nutrition? Will you go to the party and have one margarita and then seltzer? Pick your one way to show up and stick to it and let the rest happen. Remember this is for a day, not every single day. One day letting yourself eat outside your plan is going to be ok!
Have fun and make good memories, and please be safe! Uber is a fantastic ...
