Weekends are always the hardest. I have been consistent on this journey for years now and yet every Friday comes and it is still a struggle. This feeling intensifies in the Spring and Summer, is it just me? There are outings and picnics and parties and it is just hard sometimes to make good choices.
I go into my weekends with the best mindset I can because I know I can only control so much. I do my best to plan our meals realistically around our schedule. Often times we order food on the weekends it might be breakfast or lunch but with DoorDash it is super easy to still order but make better choices! That helps me a whole lot!
Here are some of my go to order options that are still quick and easy but are still smart choices!
The Local Deli - Don't forget about the local deli guys. There are so many options here that are easy to grab and go! Many deli's now do chopped salads which are always a favorite of mine. I also love to get wraps, ask them if they do lettuce wraps. If they do you won't be disappointed. If they don't then I usually opt for a whole wheat wrap. When I choose my filling I usually for deli turkey or chicken, low sodium if they have it. Sometimes I opt for low fat chicken salad but usually I am avoiding dairy so it isn't a common choice. Then I add in some veggies! Sliced tomato and lettuce and don't forget the avocado! You have a great sandwich and its a great option when you're on the go!
The Diner - This may just be a NY thing so if it is I totally apologize but guys the diner is one of our favorite go to options. The choices are endless! When are schedule is jam packed, like it often is on the weekends I usually order something from the diner. I know it will be quick and since there are so many options everyone will be happy! My go to from the diner is usually a salad or a wrap. My local diner does a sriracha chicken wrap that is incredible! It is grilled chicken with sriracha lettuce tomato and avocado! Don’t also forget about the salad options!
Chipotle - Yep! One of my favorite places to grab food. My go to is a burrito bowl with white rice, extra steak, fajita veggies, black beans, and guac! It is a perfectly balance plate which I love and it is soo delicious! They do have cauliflower rice now but honestly it isn't my thing. I like cauliflower rice in general but just not lovin the Chipotle version!
No matter what your schedule looks like try to always have a plan. I know it seems like more work to think it through ahead of time but it really makes life a lot less stressful and keeps you on the track you want to be on!
Enjoy!
Happy Saturday! I wanted to hop by and give you this important message for this weekend because I hear a lot of this going around!
Do not punish yourself with exercise. When you get into that mindset you will start resenting working out because you will associate it with something negative rather than all the positive it brings.
I totally get not wanting to lose your progress but it is not going to happen with one meal or in one day or really one weekend!
If you can relate to this I want you to do this...
Each morning when you get up be intentional about how you will show up that day. Will you do your workout? Will you focus on your nutrition? Will you go to the party and have one margarita and then seltzer? Pick your one way to show up and stick to it and let the rest happen. Remember this is for a day, not every single day. One day letting yourself eat outside your plan is going to be ok!
Have fun and make good memories, and please be safe! Uber is a fantastic ...
