Ever get home from the food store and wonder why you bought some of what you did? Crazy right! Marketing unhealthy food to look healthy is actually someone's job. Making this realization was so disturbing to me.
I understand the need to sell your product but instead of trying to improve the product they found ways to market the unhealthy product to appear healthy. Let's talk about some of these strategies so you are aware of them while you're shopping!
"Buzz Words" This is the big marketing trick they are currently using. You will see packaging with phrases like, vegan, organic, gluten-free. Just because you see a kids cereal labeled organic does not mean it is not full of sugar but they use the phrase organic to make you feel like you are making a better choice. In a sense it is better to choose organic but organic does not equal nutritious, does that make sense? You may be on a gluten-free diet and when you see the phrase gluten-free you may associate that with healthy choices but really all that means is there is no gluten!
We can avoid this by looking at the ingredient list. If something is marketed as healthy and you read the ingredients and it is full of things you've never heard of or can't pronounce put it down!
We are going to do a little challenge here. I want you to go into your kitchen and evaluate your pantry. How many "junk foods" marketed as "health foods" can you find?

Do not punish yourself with exercise. When you get into that mindset you will start resenting working out because you will associate it with something negative rather than all the positive it brings.
I totally get not wanting to lose your progress but it is not going to happen with one meal or in one day or really one weekend!
If you can relate to this I want you to do this...
Each morning when you get up be intentional about how you will show up that day. Will you do your workout? Will you focus on your nutrition? Will you go to the party and have one margarita and then seltzer? Pick your one way to show up and stick to it and let the rest happen. Remember this is for a day, not every single day. One day letting yourself eat outside your plan is going to be ok!
