I’m going to be super honest here, so many times people claim they are eating healthy but they don’t even realize half of the things they are eating. I know, definitely some hard truths here and for that reason today we are going to tackle a balanced diet. My goal here isn’t to tell you exactly what to eat or how much to eat, but I do want to make you more aware of your current diet and see if there are any small changes you can make to help make it a little healthier! Make sure you have that worksheet ready and let’s dive in!
Your Current Diet
We are going to jump right into this so I want you to think about your day today and write down everything you ate (if you are doing this first thing in the morning then write down everything you ate yesterday). You do not need to be super specific here. You don’t need to say I had 1 cup of lettuce, 3 oz of chicken. Just write down the foods in each of your meals. You do have to be honest though. No one else is going to see this paper, you do not have to submit it for credit lol and you can totally shred it or burn it when you’re done. In order for this exercise to work you need to be willing to be completely honest with yourself.
A Balanced Diet
Now that we have that all written down, let’s talk quickly about a balanced diet. When I talk about a balanced diet it means I am eating across the major macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fat) and also making sure it is full of foods that will give me the smaller nutrients our bodies need. So when I plan out meals I make sure it has a protein, carb, fat, and a vegetable.
Go through what you wrote down in part 1. How balanced were your meals? Did you forget any of these categories? Remember the purpose of this training is to make us aware, not make us feel bad about what we are doing. There is always room for improvement, even for myself! What can you do in the future that can help you have a more balanced meal?
Let’s go through this scenario. Let’s say you are a super busy parent, which I know many of us are. Your schedule is full of practices and games for your kids. You come home to find out you forgot to take out the chicken so you have nothing ready to make for dinner and you have to be at the field in an hour. You decide the only option you have is to drive thru somewhere and grab dinner on the go. In this scenario what is something you can do to improve your meal just a bit? First you can order something a little healthier from that place, though eating a salad in the car as your driving isn’t really a good option but it is still available lol. Second, you could bring some cut up veggies with you to have with whatever you are ordering. I know that burger isn’t a great option but adding the veggies does help give your body some nutrients it needs!
The point of this training is to make us more aware of making healthier choices and building meals that will help get us to our goals! Whenever I create a meal I think about those 4 categories, protein, carb, fat, and veggies. I choose something from each one and build my meal. This helps to make sure I am getting what I need!

Happy Saturday! I wanted to hop by and give you this important message for this weekend because I hear a lot of this going around!
Do not punish yourself with exercise. When you get into that mindset you will start resenting working out because you will associate it with something negative rather than all the positive it brings.
I totally get not wanting to lose your progress but it is not going to happen with one meal or in one day or really one weekend!
If you can relate to this I want you to do this...
Each morning when you get up be intentional about how you will show up that day. Will you do your workout? Will you focus on your nutrition? Will you go to the party and have one margarita and then seltzer? Pick your one way to show up and stick to it and let the rest happen. Remember this is for a day, not every single day. One day letting yourself eat outside your plan is going to be ok!
Have fun and make good memories, and please be safe! Uber is a fantastic ...
