3 Easy Ways to Improve Your Wellness Without Being Overwhelmed

Getting started is always the hardest part, don’t you agree? It can be super overwhelming, you’re trying to juggle all new things, while still having all the same responsibilities as you had before.

I can totally relate to this. When I come home from work I have a very specific routine and anytime something comes and disrupts that, I can start to feel that sense of being overwhelmed creeping back in. This makes adding new routines hard!

I wanted to share with you 3 easy ways you can get started today without making a huge change! Now I am not saying you should totally do all 3 of these things at once but obviously the choice on what you do is ultimately yours! If it were up to me I would choose one or 2 of them. Start doing them and once they become ingrained into your routine, add in another one!

So here we go!

I want to start off with the ones I find to be the easiest to implement and then go from there. Sit for a minute and think about the foods you have in your house, right now, that you tend to reach for that maybe aren’t the most healthy for you. Come on, you know what they are! Now write them down and choose one of them to remove from your house. That means you are getting rid of it right now AND you will not be buying it the next time you go food shopping. I want to be clear with this one so let’s say you choose ice cream. You get rid of the ice cream in your house and you commit to not buying it while you go food shopping again BUT you are out with your family and you all decide to celebrate something with going to get ice cream. I am NOT saying you can’t ever eat ice cream, I’m saying don’t keep it stored in your house if you have a hard time saying no to it. Eating a treat intentionally once in a while is different from reaching for the ice cream when you’ve had a rough day at work.

You can add a small side salad to your lunch or dinner each day. Try to aim for 1 small side salad a day, honestly you can eat it at any meal and change it up as you go if you wish. Just make 5 small salads for the week and keep them in your fridge so you are ready to go. This is not your main meal so you don’t need to stress about it being completely balanced. Add some lettuce, some additional veggies, maybe an avocado and some light dressing or fresh lemon or lime juice! Quick, easy, and helps you get in some nutrients. Let’s get into an example for this one also. So you are at work and your office decides they are ordering pizza for lunch. Now you LOVE pizza and you want to have a slice. I am not telling you to skip the pizza, I’m telling you to have the slice of pizza with a small salad on the side.

Finally lets add in a little movement. Now before you start with the “But I don’t have time to workout” excuse, hear me out. I am not telling you to start an entire workout program. For this suggestion I want you to aim to walk for an additional 2 minutes each hour you are awake. I don’t want to hear you don’t have 2 minutes, you do! You can even break it up into 1 minute intervals if it fits better. So what I’m asking you to do is be intentional about walking 2 extra minutes each hour

Whenever we are starting something new it is best to take it on in smaller parts. It makes it less overwhelming, easier to manage, and there is a better chance you will be able to maintain it!

Holiday Weekend Message | Coffee Donuts Fitness

Happy Saturday! I wanted to hop by and give you this important message for this weekend because I hear a lot of this going around!

Do not punish yourself with exercise. When you get into that mindset you will start resenting working out because you will associate it with something negative rather than all the positive it brings.

I totally get not wanting to lose your progress but it is not going to happen with one meal or in one day or really one weekend!

If you can relate to this I want you to do this...

Each morning when you get up be intentional about how you will show up that day. Will you do your workout? Will you focus on your nutrition? Will you go to the party and have one margarita and then seltzer? Pick your one way to show up and stick to it and let the rest happen. Remember this is for a day, not every single day. One day letting yourself eat outside your plan is going to be ok!
