When I hear people talk about weight loss I usually hear them talk about cutting out foods, restricting calories, weighing/measuring or counting calories/points/macros. I hear them talk about the plan they are on and all the things they love about it.
When weight loss plans are advertised they talk about the ease of the program. I mean I get it they want to make it seem as effortless as they possibly can so you buy into it.
The problem I see with all of this is you don't really hear people saying the truth. I'm sure this is because the truth isn't always pretty.
Well today, I'm here to tell you the truth because I believe in being realistic. When you have expectations of something being less challenging and then you face challenges you are more likely to give up and quit so let's just put it all on the table.
The biggest thing I want to scream from the rooftops is that weight loss is going to fluctuate. There are going to be days or weeks where you even see the scale go up 😱 I know! The thing is, this is normal! There are so many factors that determine your actual weight, water, sodium intake. So your day to day weight will fluctuate whole lot! I included a picture of my daily weight chart. This is literally my actual chart over the last 6 months. Look how many times it went back up again! If I gave up everytime I had the scale go up I would have quit months ago!
Next, this takes time. I know you've all seen the commercials and the gimmicks to lose weight quick! Anytime I see those words I laugh and keep scrolling because weight loss isn't quick! Anything promising you quick results is most likely doing it in a way that isn't healthy. Now I know it may sound tempting but health is a big factor here!
And while we are on that subject let me continue it a bit because that is a third thing you don't hear about when talking about weight loss. Most programs or people don't promote the health side of it. They want you to focus on weight loss because it's a number you can measure and may be your optimal goal BUT your goal should be to improve your diet because of health. When you shift that mindset and focus on eating better foods, the weight loss will come!

Happy Saturday! I wanted to hop by and give you this important message for this weekend because I hear a lot of this going around!
Do not punish yourself with exercise. When you get into that mindset you will start resenting working out because you will associate it with something negative rather than all the positive it brings.
I totally get not wanting to lose your progress but it is not going to happen with one meal or in one day or really one weekend!
If you can relate to this I want you to do this...
Each morning when you get up be intentional about how you will show up that day. Will you do your workout? Will you focus on your nutrition? Will you go to the party and have one margarita and then seltzer? Pick your one way to show up and stick to it and let the rest happen. Remember this is for a day, not every single day. One day letting yourself eat outside your plan is going to be ok!
